Mrs Shaw called us to update and replace her old patio. The old patio had overgrown shrubbery and trees that was blocking light and high maintenance.
She wanted a new block paving patio with grey pavers to the edge, new paths that would enable access around the perimeter of the garden.
The project involved the removal of the old slabs and to dig out any existing soil and rubble to a suitable depth. Once this had been excavated a suitable permeable membrane was laid. We also lay a new membrane to prevent movement between the sub-base and soil and to ensure no weeds grow up through the surface.
The pavers to the edge were suitably concreted in place to provide the patio with a strong border to prevent movement. We were then able to screed the sharp sand and then lay the blocks in place. Once this was done the joints were filled and a plate compactor used to bed the blocks into their final resting home.
